The SA Hip Hop scene is still in its infancy that some of it’s greatest have not yet received the rewards from any digital space for their printed music. While some have made great strides, a lot of the greatest disappeared with the entrance of the digital age as record stores shut down and their music stopped selling.
To date, a handful has managed to buy back the masters of their music so to distribute it online – where the consumer is in 2019. The most recent is the country’s price rapper, Proverb who just bought back masters to his 2005 debut album (14 years later). This is the second project the creative has bought back, the first being Manuscript.
Dubbed The Book Of Proverb, the album packed 16 tracks enlisting features from names like; Zubz, Tumi and a few more to mention. Produced by Battlekat, Proverb will be taking the project for remastering and will “readying” it for digital release.
Looking forward to play-listing some of your favourite 2000 raps from Proverb, stay tuned to DopeOffthePress and stay up to date.
