A new global awards ceremony, titled the Global Social Awards, will be hosted for the first time this year. Taking place on the 29th of May, the ceremony will celebrate the popular figures from the world of social media, gathering more than 40 influencers from around the world.

Among those nominated is a handful of South African mainstream musicians, namely; Cassper Nyovest, Priddy Ugly, Gigi Lamayne, Anatii, and Shekhinah.
Other South Africans nominated include; Bonang Matheba, Vusi Thembakwayo, and Mutau Matheba.
