AKA’s Legacy Lives On Through Posthumous Album Release: Mass Country

South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes has posthumously released his fourth and final album, “Mass Country,” on February 24, 2023. The album’s release came less than two weeks after AKA’s untimely death following a shooting in Durban on February 10, leaving behind a bittersweet gift for his fans.

Despite his passing, AKA’s family decided to honor his direction and vision for the album by going ahead with its release. The 14-track album features collaborations with established and up-and-coming producers from across the country, as well as popular artists such as Emtee, Yanga Chief, Nadia Nakai, Khuli Chana, and Blxckie. Each song reflects different aspects of AKA’s life, including his journey to find love, losing his fiancee, and his spiritual awakening.

“Mass Country” takes listeners on a journey through AKA’s life, showcasing his ability to deliver quality hits and leave a lasting impact on the South African music industry. The album features a debut single, “Lemons (Lemonade),” released before AKA’s passing, which fans will be able to experience live.

The album trailer and bite-size behind-the-scenes footage provided fans with a glimpse into the making of some songs on the album. AKA had planned to promote the album by going on tour with Joyous Celebration, but those plans will never come to fruition.

Despite the tragic circumstances surrounding the album’s release, AKA’s family and fans are celebrating his legacy through “Mass Country.” His family believes that what will be coming out is as per his direction and vision, showcasing his heart and soul put into the project.

To celebrate the album’s release, AKA’s family hosted an exclusive listening session in Johannesburg. AKA’s passing has left a void in the South African music industry, but his talent and impact on the industry are a reminder of his legacy.
